Peter Heals the Crippled Beggar

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon.

Now a man crippled from birth . . . saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.

Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong.

He jumped to his feet and began to walk. . .

All the people were astonished and came running to them

Peter said to them: "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus.

It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.

Acts 3:1-16
paraphrased

What are your expectations?

The beggar was asking for money.
It's all he had ever asked for.

It was his begging routine.

He didn't expect anything more.

It didn't occur for him to ask for healing.

It didn't occur to him that he could dance.

I'm sure that he had heard about the Jesus who healed crippled beggars.

But that Jesus had been crucified.

So he just sat at the temple gate and asked for money.

It was his begging routine.

What are you asking for?

What are your expectations?

What is your routine?

Routine dulls us.

Routine stops us from noticing.

Routine muffles our hearing.

Routine deadens our expectations.

Routine limits our potential.

Routine transforms us into
one dimensional people who have lost
the power of our choice.

Do you want to dance?

The same God,

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
the God of our fathers,

is here today.

He wants invigorate you.

He wants to restore you.

He wants to strenghthen you.

He wants to do more than heal you--

He wants to bring you back to life!

Go get your dancing shoes!

What is your box?

Ask God to open your box

Be confident in Spirit

Be eager to learn

Everything is still possible

Change your expectations!
