T.O.A.D.
There are all levels of "Christian surfers" at red.
There are the young and inexperienced
who are just beginning and subjecting
their boards to the
power of the wave
for the first time.
There are those who have been "surfing" for awhile,
and there are those who've been "surfing"
for quite some time now.
And there are those of you
who've yet to make the commitment to even
get in the water.
The thing we all have in common is that
without the power of the waves and water
we can do nothing;
and whatever we do attempt to do
can quickly degenerate
into self-righteousness and futility.
It's the wave action, energy and inertia
within the waves
that made it all possible.
Without the power of the waves
there would be no surfers at all.

Every day we have to go to the beach,
leave all our precious stuff behind
except for a board and light swim wear,
as excess baggage will only weight you down
and stifle the inertia.

Every day we must jump in the water
and paddle out to once again
meet the awesome inertia of the Tidal Wave of God!
God promises us the ride of our lives.

So, come on in! The water is fine! The church is to act a lot like a surfer
surfers don't try to create waves to ride on
Instead, they keep their eyes open
and ride the waves that come ,
the waves that the Ocean sends them.
Our job as the body of Christ
(and here at red for us in particular)
is not to try to create waves
that will stimulate movement.

That's God's job.

Our job is just to get out there on the water

Open our spiritual eyes
and find the waves that the
Holy Spirit of God is sending our way.

And then ride those waves for all their worth.

Now, we didn't create this wave of learning
that we are riding right now.
It just showed up.

God put it all together in
His perfect timing.

And we are growing in faith
as we ride this wave.

This wave of costly discipleship.

The wave of exploring worship.

The wave of true submission.

But one of the dangers of riding any wave
(especially this one)
Is that in the midst of our earnestness
of trying not to fall off it and wipe out,
In the midst of the seriousness of the task at hand
We can forget to enjoy the experience
of surfing on God's wave.

We forget that the life we are called to
experience as disciples is like a wave.
It is awesome.
It should take our breath away
To see what God is teaching us
and the exciting life he has called us to live.

While the cost and risk is high
The joy is even greater
And we are living life at its best.
May the wind of the Holy Spirit be at your back
and the waves of opportunity tall as you
surf and serve for God!
So… what are you waiting for?
Surfz Up!

Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God.
That energy is God's energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.
Do everything readily and cheerfully--no bickering, no second-guessing allowed!
Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society.
Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God.
Carry the light-giving Message into the night.

Jasper and Carnelian

The Throne in Heaven
After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."
At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.
And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne.
Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Revelation 4:1-5
we are using jasper and carnelian polished
gemstones to create the celtic weave of
