Here are some picture of our Fourwheeling trip up an active Volcano. On the way to the volcano we happend to see first hand a near-by volcano erupt. We were about 2 miles away when it went off. COOL!!

In the pictures the terrain doesn't look very difficult, well it was. the terrain was loose sand/small gravel. It was very steep, super steep. If you stopped in your upward direction you would sink in, and then if you tried to start forward again you would sink in deeper, up to your axles. There was also large boulders and rocks to navigate over and around. You could start over one, but then you would loose traction to one wheel and then sink in up to your axle, 14in. or more deep in the stuff. On the way to the volcano, while traveling on a narrow rocky dirt trail, my power steering line came off. I lost all power steering until we reached a gas station on the way back. I climbed the volcano without power steering. My truck made it just as far as Jared's did. Aslan is a beast! The power steering is fixed now, and everything is fine, no damage. :) I will also send a detailed journal entry soon.

Love,
RAY

PS
this was an active volcano, its last major lava flow was in Feb. 2000, and lasted for more than a day. Today the volcano is sending up gases and smoke.

We got within a 1/2 mile of the top. The terrain becomes way to loose and steep to make it any higher with vehicles.
